History of Ferguson Steel, Inc.

pic2.JPG (125363 bytes)Ferguson Steel, Inc has been a family business active in steel fabrication and erection since the early 1900's. In the early years, Jim Ferguson, the founder, would dismantle existing buildings and reassemble them in new locations. Ferguson Steel, Inc. was also involved with an abundance of in-plant renovations in the Southeast Michigan area.

In the 1930's, Jim was joined in business by his son Bruce. They had a small fabrication shop in Port Huron on Lapeer Avenue. They moved to our current location on Howard Street in 1944 and continued the steel fabrication and erection business. The firm also built a steel warehouse and sold beams, plate, angle and other hot rolled steel products to surrounding businesses and individuals.

Evellina Ferguson, Bruce's wife, continued to operate the business after Bruce's death in 1972. She was  joined by her nephew, Bill White, in 1975. Bill was named President in 1979 and continues to run the daily operations. The company has grown over the years, having modernized and enlarged the fabrication shop in the early 90's and is still very proud of the family traditions it has upheld.
